Privacy
One Game a Day has no accounts, no advertising trackers and no cookies for visitors. It measures just enough to know which games people enjoy.
What is measured
- That a game page was opened, and that a game was started.
- How long a game was actively played, rounded to seconds, so rankings reflect real play rather than clicks.
- Coarse totals for the whole site: the hour of day, whether a device is a phone, tablet or computer, and whether a visit came from a search engine, a social site, another site, or directly.
- Whether your browser says it has visited before, and roughly how long ago (for example “2–6 days”). The exact date stays on your device.
What is never stored
- Your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, or any persistent identifier.
- Anything you do inside a game. Games run in an isolated frame and cannot report to us or to anyone else.
How visitors are counted without identifying them
To count “unique players per day” the site derives a short code from your connection details using a random key that is created each day and permanently deleted the day after. The code cannot be turned back into an address, and because the key changes daily, one day's code cannot be matched to another's. Codes are deleted with the key.
What stays on your device
- Your favourites and recently played list (My games), which you can clear there at any time.
- Save data that individual games choose to keep. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Games are isolated
Every game runs in a sandboxed frame on a separate address, with no access to this site, to other websites, or to your camera, microphone or location.
