One Game a Day documentation

One Game a Day is a website that releases one new browser game every day. The games are free, they run in your browser, and there is nothing to download and no account to create.

This documentation describes the site as it works today. Where something does not exist yet, the page says so plainly or puts it under a heading that marks it as planned.

Who each section is for

Playing

For anyone who wants to play. Start with Getting started, then read about the game page and player controls, the daily release and finding games.

The same section covers keyboard, mouse, touch and gamepad controls, devices and browsers, My games, a list of common questions and troubleshooting.

The platform

For readers who want to know what is behind the site: what One Game a Day is, how it works, how a game is published each day, how the rankings are calculated, a summary of privacy and safety, and accessibility.

For game developers

For people who make HTML5 games. Read the overview first, then the game package format, the game.json metadata reference and the sandbox and its permissions. The publishing workflow follows a game from folder to release day, and Submitting a game explains how games reach the site today.

Partners

Partnerships states what kinds of collaboration exist today and which do not.
